It is possible to study a ONE year Diploma of Health Science (Western Herbal Medicine) which is the same as the first year of the Bachelor of Health Science (Western Herbal Medicine). This is a popular choice for those who are not yet ready to commit to 3 years of study. It is important to understand that in Australia, in order to qualify as a Western Herbal Medicine Practitioner, all students must graduate with a Bachelor of Health Science (Western Herbal Medicine) therefore a one year Diploma is not enough to practice as a Western Herbal Medicine Practitioner.
After completion of the one year Diploma you can decide to continue your studies and enter directly into the 2nd year of the Bachelor of Health Science (Western Herbal Medicine). It is possible to have a gap year in-between the Diploma and the Bachelor however should the Bachelor course be upgraded during this time it is possible that you may need to study additional subjects before entering directly into the 2nd year.
Note that there are additional visa associated costs payable to the immigration department if you decide to extend your course.
